CMHA-NL
Canadian Mental Health Association, Newfoundland and Labrador Division (CMHA-NL), is a provincial division of CMHA——the nationwide leader and champion for mental health in Canada.
CMHA-NL's mission is to facilitate access to the resources people require to maintain and improve mental health and community integration, build resilience, and support recovery from mental illness.
Mental Health Training and Education:
We offer mental health training and educational sessions for individuals, workplaces, schools, and other groups. From two-day certification courses to lunch-and-learns, our qualified facilitators can customize information sessions to meet the needs of your group or workplace. We also meet requests for mental health information booths and displays at conferences and other events.
The Justice Program:
We support individuals involved in the NL corrections system with intensive case management through our Justice Program. Members of the Justice Program are supported in a variety of ways while incarcerated and following release for a period of up to 18 months.
The At Work Program:
CMHA-NL provides employment support for people living with a mental health issue or mental illness who are unemployed or under-employed and are seeking meaningful employment through our At Work Program, which also provides wage subsidies for employers. The Employment Support Coordinator of the At Work Program works with employers and employees to ensure a smooth transition to work.
CMHA-NL’s provincial head office is located in St. John’s with regional offices located in Grand Falls-Windsor (Central NL) and Stephenville (Western NL).
As a not-for-profit organization, we rely on the essential contributions of our membership, volunteers, monthly donors, sponsors, and community partners to continue to grow our services and programs across Newfoundland and Labrador.
